This week, the UK’s percussion community has had a massive boost with the five-day visit of Manley Lopez (Piri) de “los Chinitos. With an open heart, he generously shared his knowledge, spinning our heads with his virtuosic skill and profound musical and cultural understanding. He has injected a renewed sense of possibility and inspiration into our community. On behalf of all of us here in the UK, thank you.
We would also like to thank Tamsin Borimsin and the Bristol Afro-Cuban collective, Will Fry , in his role as Head of Latin Percussion at the Royal College of Music and Sara McGuinness, for making Piri’s visit to London possible and of course all of those who supported his classes and came to the Afro-Cuban Music Night.
