Level 2/3 Afro-Cuban Drumming Course
17th February – 14th April (9-weeks)
Location: Rising Tide Studios, 270 Mare St, Hackney, London E8 1HE
This course is aimed at students wanting a deeper understanding of Afro-Cuban drumming. Participants will develop essential drum tones on different types of drums, an awareness of clave as a rhythmic structure and how drum patterns interlock and a complex understanding of rumba, batá drumming including conversations and variations. We will also introduce students to other kinds of Afro-Cuban drumming traditions. Participants will learn a repertoire of songs that accompany drum rhythms and develop skills for singing and playing simultaneously.
